Nicki Ablitt

Restorative Practitioner

Nicki holds a degree in International Relations with a focus on conflict resolution, a Masters in Environmental Policy, and is currently pursuing a PhD in restorative practice. Nicki has a particular interest in reducing harm in the workplace and supporting leaders to facilitate positive work environments for neurodiverse employees. Nicki began her conflict resolution career working for a non-profit housing association providing support for families surviving domestic violence before going on to specialise in community resilience.

Nicki has worked on community resilience in the context of Christchurch earthquake recovery, and with regional water strategies and climate change adaptation planning.  Her research includes publications on supporting communities to engage in effective decision making and to actively participate in local government efforts to prepare for climate change impacts in their local environment.  She is a qualified community mediator (with experience mostly in negotiating tenancy and neighbourhood disputes) and a policy practitioner currently working on equitable access to tertiary education for indigenous, disabled, and rainbow learners and young care leavers and learners from economically deprived backgrounds.

In her spare time Nicki volunteers as a meditation teacher and enjoys getting out in the back country and caring for her menagerie of animals and thriving permaculture garden.
