Ryan Meachen is a restorative justice practitioner. He is currently studying towards gaining a Graduate Certificate in Restorative Justice at Victoria University after completing his Bachelor of Science in 2016. Ryan is interested in exploring how to implement restorative principles and practices in to the workplace, as well as what it means to be a ‘Restorative Leader’.
Outside of studying, Ryan works in student accommodation at one of Victoria University’s student villages. In this capacity Ryan has utilised restorative practices to develop the community, build relationships, and respond to instances of harm. Ryan also worked in developing the ‘Sustained Restorative Dialogue’ to explore the issue of sexual harm on campus and through wider society.
Ryan is an avid reader, and a proud champion for his hometown Hastings, New Zealand. He has a lofty goal of returning home to make Hastings a ‘restorative city’.
